What’s a Problem?

A problem is anything that causes you discomfort and for which you seek relief. Your relief or solution can be a piece of clear, illuminating information (obtained through an article, e-book, audio-book, or video learning material) or it can be a relevant hard good (i.e. material product) or a relevant service (such as an online service provided as a membership resource site). It all depends what your specific problem is.
Problems are a pain, and we would rather do without them. We prefer pleasure. When we solve problems we translate our pains into pleasures. Continual problem solving generates continual pleasure, with happiness as the ultimate goal.
When we are unhappy it’s because we are bogged down by some problem, something that disturbs our cool, something that troubles us.
The worst state is when we cannot put a finger on it. We cannot even tell what the problem is because we do not understand it. Our frustration level can be very high because we believe we cannot do anything about it.
The first step is to understand the problem, either by carrying out research or by seeing a consultant, expert, or problem solver.
This site has been designed to help you carry out your own research. You can then decide whether to solve the problem on your own or whether you must see a consultant.
The next worst type of problem is the one that we clearly understand, yet we can’t find a solution for it. It means that we are ‘pained for life.’ And the best type of problem is one for which solutions are readily available and are affordable. These are the easiest problems to handle.
When we solve problems regularly and grow our pleasures, we approach a state of long-term happiness in which we are in control of almost every aspect of our lives. This is the state we want. It is peaceful, cool, and calm. It is like heaven.
